Save the Gay Head Light

The Gay Head Lighthouse, a Martha’s Vineyard treasure and one of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, is imperiled. It currently sits 46 feet (Aug 2013) from an eroding cliff and 30-40’ around the structure is needed to move it safely. The Save the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee is working to save this iconic structure, and working navigational beacon, which has stood at the picturesque cliffs of the western most tip of the island since 1854. The committee’s objective is to move and restore the Gay Head Lighthouse to a location which will sustain it for many generations. The relocation is planned for Spring 2015. The fundraising goal to cover all costs is $3 million. Thank you for participating in the effort to save an island icon. With your help, the Gay Head Light will KEEP ON SHINING!
Player Divisions
Women’s A Doubles (combined rating of 7.0 or higher)
Women’s B Doubles (combined <7.0)
Men’s A Doubles (combined 7.0 or higher)
Men’s B Doubles (combined <7.0)
Kids Doubles (13 and under)
Partners: If you don’t have a partner, sign up anyway and we’ll find you one!
Prizes: Prizes for the winners of each division
Timing: Play starts each day at 12 noon
Matches: Guaranteed at least 2 matches
Registration fee: $100 per player for adults and $50 per player for kids (Contributions to the Gay Head Lighthouse Fund maintained by the Town of Aquinnah for the purpose of effecting the relocation and on-going maintenance of the Gay Head Lighthouse are tax deductible under Section 170 (c) (1) of the Internal Revenue Code for U.S. income tax purposes to the same extent as permitted by applicable law under Section 501 (c) (3) of said Code.)
